Brian Kimmel – Regional Coach – West

B_ Kimmel2_2017 Brian Kimmel is a native Montanan and has been blessed to grow up in the mountains that feed the trout filled waters of Montana. Owner and outfitter of Shadow of a Trout Outfitters, Brian’s experience and passion for fly fishing are evident in his guide style. After earning the coveted “Orvis guide of the year” award and being fishing director of Lone Mountain Ranch during a run of “2001 Orvis Endorsed Lodge of the year” and “2002 Orvis Outfitter of the year” he set off on his own lifelong dream of being his own outfitter. Fishing extensively across Montana and saltwater from Massachusetts to Belize and all the waters in between, home water riffles always draw him back to the Missouri, Madison, and Yellowstone. Brian has been pursuing his passion of fly-fishing for almost 25 years. This knowledge has pushed him to the forefront of the guide industry with the opportunity to be heard on TV shows like Fly Fishing America and the Great Outdoor Games, as well as countless magazine articles, such as in American Angler, public speaking and fly tying opportunities. Spending six years on Fly Fishing Team USA has given him the knowledge and insight into the world of competition angling one can only receive by being that immersed in the styles of angling that lead to becoming a two-time, back-to-back National championship team member and America Cup silver medalist. B_ Kimmel6_2017As a liaison for Team USA Youth team for the last seven years, and now the western program’s director and coach, Brian has enjoyed teaching fly fishing and passing on his knowledge to the next generation of youth anglers. Brian says, “ I am honored to be involved with such a great organization and look forward to many years the future success.”
