Grant Hawse – Marvin, NC

Grant began fly fishing when he was eight years old with his dad and his brother, Matt.  His first fly fishing experience was on the South Holston River in North Carolina.  His dad shared his knowledge and love of the sport and what started as a yearly fly fishing trip has now become his passion.  As Grant says, ” Growing up fishing in the rivers of North Carolina has been an awesome experience.  I love being able to combine my love of nature and appreciation for the fish and rivers with the skill and art of fly fishing.”

When asked what he likes best about being part of Team USA Youth he replies,  “I feel privileged and honored to represent the  United States on Team USA Youth.  Traveling and competing across the country and the world is an amazing opportunity that I am very excited about.  The incredible anglers on Team USA Youth have taught me so much about the sport and competing.  I am extremely thankful for the coaches and this dedicated group of anglers. Team USA Youth has given me the opportunity to meet anglers across the country that I know will be life long friends.”

As to Grant’s future plans, he says, “I see myself as a more experienced angler continuing to enjoy fly fishing while pushing myself to compete. I would also like to have the honor to win a spot on the Men’s National Team.”
