Holden Price – Port Matilda, PA
Holden Price’s family has always enjoyed fishing of all kinds. Being from Central Pennsylvania made it inevitable that a fly rod would one day get into his hands. From that time on it was “Love at first Cast”. Two meetings along the streams were also influential: his meeting of Charles Meck (along the Bald Eagle Creek and learning the tandem fly) and his meeting Chris Haser, (a past Team USA Youth coach) at Fisherman’s Paradise one day…and the rest is history.
When asked what he was most looking forward to about being part of Team USA Youth, Holden’s response was quite simple. “Representing my country is #1, a huge honor! I know being named to the US Youth Team will help me advance my skills, both on and off the water. I’m glad to be a part of a group of guys who want, and are willing to work hard for, many of the same things as I do, including continuing success as a team and advancing the team going into the future. I want to emphasize how important the support of my family and coaches has been to me, as well as the team. Our success would not be possible without that support, and our success is their primary reward. Thanks!”
As for future plans, Holden wants to successfully blend his love of the outdoors with the advanced education needed for a real career, as well as being able to contribute to the Team after the teen years are over. So much will happen in these next years, but for sure he will be “in there” advancing his fly fishing skills, his education, and generally pushing himself to where he can, as he says, “make a difference.”
