Hunter was introduced to fly fishing by his grandmother. When he was 9 or 10 years old she first
taught him to cast a fly rod. She then took him out on one of the tributaries of the Snake River and he
was “hooked from there. I then wanted to learn everything I could about the sport and practiced
catching bluegill and bream on the lakes around my house.” When asked what he likes most about
being a member of Team USA Youth, he says that “It’s cool to be on a team where everyone shares the
same love for fly fishing.” He especially enjoys all the opportunities there are to learn new techniques
and improve upon old ones. He is glad to be able to represent the USA in a sport which he loves. His
goals are to continue to progress as an angler and to attend college.
