Mason Sims – Chickamauga, GA. Mason started fly fishing when he was eight years old. As he says, “My grandpaw took me out to his backyard one day and told me if I could learn how to cast a fly rod, then he would take me on a guided trip in Colorado. It was then that I got the “fever” and began fly fishing. I became addicted and, on another amazing day, my grandpaw asked me if I wanted to become a competitive angler and, of course, my answer was yes!” From that point on, Mason has worked very hard to better his skills and learn as much as possible. When asked what he likes best about being on Team USA, Mason says that the “best thing about being on the Team is that I get to represent my country in competitions around the nation and hopefully around the world. ” He enjoys being with his team mates and says he learns more every time he practices and competes. Mason hopes to go to college to study fisheries biology and wants to continue learning to become a better angler, continue competing and move up to the adult Team USA.
