Noland Glenn – Roswell, GA
For as long as he can remember, Noland has been fishing with his dad. His earliest memories are fishing for bass on Lake Blue Ridge in the north Georgia mountains, saltwater fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, and reeling in tuna, one after the other, off of the Tuna Coast in Pedasea, Panama. Fishing has always been a part of who he is and what he loves to do. At the age of 15, Noland was introduced to fly fishing at a Cast & Blast event hosted by Rob Bilue, of Mountaintown Trout in Ellijay, GA. Soon after, he volunteered at an FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Fly Fishing Tournament at Mountaintown Trout. It was there that Noland first met Team USA Youth member, Mason Sims, who would become his friend. As Noland says, “Mason was a guest speaker and shared his passion for Christ and fishing. For me, it was the point in my life that affirmed my goal to become a member of the USA Youth Fly Fishing Team and share my passion of faith and fishing. I sincerely enjoy the aspects of friendship, competitiveness, and camaraderie within the team. These common traits allow us to act as an integrated group of anglers that are focused not solely on individual performance, but also on the performance and accomplishments of the team as a whole.”
As Noland continues to learn and practices his skills as a fly fisherman, he is reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and support of his family. Noland says, “I am also reminded that my faith, family and education are paramount to my goals, which include competing in World Fly Fishing Competition and making the US Men’s Fly Fishing Team.”
Noland’s future plans include continuing his education at the University of North Georgia, studying Environmental Chemistry, with plans to obtain a Master’s degree in AG Chemistry.
